Mile Run (Tiadaghton) Trail Challenge (13 miles)--March 31, 2012. A Trophy Series race put on by fellow trailrunner and owner of PA Runners, Jeff Miville. Race will be held in both Bald Eagle and Tiadaghton State Forests. Jeff looks to challenge runners and hikers with some drastic elevation changes. It will be a good warm-up for the Hyner Challenge. Sign up before March 15th!!! Signature Section--Little Break Trail Greenwood Furnace Trail Challenge (13 miles) May 6th, 2012--The first annual Greenwood Furnace Trail Challenge is an intense, rugged, single track half- marathon. A figure 8 route of rocky climbs and nasty downhills; it starts at Greenwood Furnace State Park, climbs to the fire tower, drops down in to Alan Seeger Natural Area before climbing back to the tower, and then returns down to the park. Sign up by April 6th. The Hyner Ultra Challenge 50K-- April 21, 2012. A NEW addition to the ever popular Hyner Challenge. Runners will still have to complete the entire 25K course throughout their journey, but will branch off and take on a challenging, yet beautiful 14 mile loop. Vistas are plentiful as the trails meandor through The Nature Conservancy property. This event is open to experienced runners only and qualifying standards are in place to ensure that runners can complete the course during daylight hours. Click here to register. The Hyner View Trail Challenge (16.3 miles) April 21st 2012 -- A new section was added for 2010 that boggled the minds of Hyner "repeaters". Get ready to climb!! It's a grueling Trophy Series and Grand Slam trail event that will challenge over 1000 runners and hikers again this year. This event features two of the best vistas in the state. 4200+ feet of elevation gain over 25K will test your physical limits!! A great post race party at the start/finish area hosted by the Western Clinton Sportmen's Association is a great way to meet fellow trail enthusiasts. Click here to register. Signature section--Hyner View Prowl the Sproul 10K -- A smaller event put on by the PA Trail Dogs that may just be the most challenging 10K around. Race day will be July 21, 2012. It's three grueling miles up, followed by three and a half miles of blistering downhill. It's the baby sister of the Hyner Challenge. Registration opens on November 1st. Click here to register. The Dam Half/Full Trail Marathon -- Sept.16th 2012. Join the Mid Penn Trailblazers in their eighth annual race, a Grand Slam race and now part of the Trailrunner Trophy Series. Click here for Video. Now a runner/hiker can choose between doing the half marathon or continuing on for another challenging 13!! Joel, Jason, and crew have worked hard to offer one of the few trail marathons in Pennsylvania. The course is unique and the food and comraderie afterwards is exceptional. Mark your calendars!!! Signature section--Stairway to Heaven Bald Eagle Megatransect Sept 29th, 2012--SOLD OUT in 90 MINUTES!!!! The final Grand Slam race, the Mega is one of the most unique events in the country. The Boulder Field section is crazy!! Who knows what Trail Guy Dave will have us do this year!!! The event for 2011 sold out in less than 2 days!! Prowl the Sproul 10K -- A smaller event put on by the PA Trail Dogs that may just be the most challenging 10K around. Race day will be July 23, 2011. It's three grueling miles up, followed by three and a half miles of blistering downhill. It's the baby sister of the Hyner Challenge. Registration opens on April 16th at the Hyner Challenge. Dam Scramble -- August 27th 2011--New for 2012--Trailrunner Trophy Series race. Dam Scramble is an Endurance Trail Challenge at the Curwensville Lake Recreation Area. Participants will have the opportunity to complete one 9-mile loop or continue on for 18 miles by doing two loops. The majority of the course will be on single-track trails through the woods with many beautiful views of Curwensville Lake. There will be many hills to get the heart pumping. We want you to have a challenging but rewarding “scramble” around the lake! This challenge is open to both hikers and runners, however, this will not be your average “walk in the woods” so please only attempt this if you are sufficiently trained. Download Application
