Tiadaghton Trail Challenge 20K-- New trail race put on by fellow trailrunner and owner of PA Runners, Jeff Miville. Race will be held March 27, 2010 in both Bald Eagle and Tiadaghton State Forests. Jeff looks to challenge runners and hikers will some drastic elevation changes. It will be a good warm-up for the Hyner Challenge. Sign up before March 15th!!! 

The Hyner View Trail Challenge April 17th -- 1st race in the Grand Slam. A new section has been added for 2010 that will boggle the mind of Hyner "repeaters". Get ready to climb!! It's a grueling Trophy Series trail event that will challenge over 1000 runners and hikers this year. This event features two of the best vistas in the state. 4200+ feet of elevation gain over 25K will test your physical limits!! A great post race party at the start/finish area hosted by the Western Clinton Sportmen's Association is a great way to meet fellow trail enthusiasts. The Rothrock Challenge June 5th--The Rock is the Hyner's southern cousin and the 2nd race in the "Grand Slam" series. It's a 30K filled with awesome single track, elevation changes that will numb the legs, and hair-raising scrambles through boulders and cliffs. The PA Trail Dogs' apple didn't fall too far from the tree on this one. If you liked the Hyner, then you'll feel right at home in Rothrock. Some new sections have been added to maximize scenery and ensure more single track running/trekking. Register before May 15th to secure your spot!! Signature section--Shingletown cliffs  

Susquehanna Health Challenge at Crystal Lake-- A quick-running 15 mile endurance hike/trail run in Northcentral PA. Course will take entrants up and over the Endless Mountains. The property at Crystal Lake spans over 960 acres of wooded land and features two lakes and many trails ranging from easy to difficult. Course map. The footing is ideal for those looking for a speedy course. 

The Dam Half/Full Trail Marathon -- 3rd race in the Grand Slam. Join the Mid Penn Trailblazers in their seventh annual race. Click here for Video. Now a runner/hiker can choose between doing the half marathon or continuing on for another challenging 13!! Kevin, Jason, and crew have worked hard to offer one of the few trail marathons in Pennsylvania. The course is unique and the food and comraderie afterwards is exceptional. Mark your calendars!!! 2010 date TBA shortly. Signature section--Stairway to Heaven

Bald Eagle Megatransect October 2nd-- 4th race in the Grand Slam. The Mega is one of the most unique events in the country. Click here for Video. The Boulder Field section is crazy!! The event for 2009 sold out in less than 3 weeks!!  Sign up early next year for the 25.5 mile trail race through Bald Eagle State Forest. Registration opens January 1st. If you miss out, try one of its sister races, the Dam Full, which is two weeks before the Mega. If coming to the Mega, be ready for gnarly new sections added for 2010!! Signature section--Boulder Field 

                                 



Prowl the Sproul 10K -- A smaller event put on by the PA Trail Dogs that may just be the most challenging 10K around. Race day will be July 17, 2010. It's three grueling miles up, followed by three and a half miles of blistering downhill. It's the baby sister of the Hyner Challenge. Registration opens on April 17th at the Hyner Challenge. 


Strip Mine 9 -- The Mid Penn Trailblazers offer a fun nine miler that winds through some pretty diverse terrain. Ruth Ann, Joel, and crew put on a great event that keeps growing each and every year. Use this as a warm-up for the Rothrock. 


The Escarpment Trail Race -- Dick Vincent and crew have been running this race since 1977. It truly is one of the hardest trail races on the east coast. The race institutes qualifyng standards and only the first 200 registrants get in. The Hyner Challenge is a qualifying race but please read the Escarpment website before committing.


Susquehanna Super Hike -- On September 12, 2009, the Keystone Trails Association is proud to sponsor the Susquehanna Super Hike, a 25-mile hiking/trail runner challenge event for adventurous hikers on the scenic rolling river hills of the lower Susquehanna Gorge.This daunting hike on the Mason-Dixon and Conestoga Trails alternates breathtaking vistas with steep descents into dark, scenic hollows followed by strenuous climbs to the next vista. Prepare yourself for the steep hills, rocky terrain and deep ravines of the Susquehanna Super Hike, an arduous, undulating and challenging course.
